South Jersey’s Most Historic Golf Experience
An 18-hole classic designed by Dave Beakley in 1942 — where generations of South Jersey golfers have come to challenge themselves and enjoy the game
Valleybrook Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 golf course in Blackwood, New Jersey — and the oldest course in the Ron Jaworski Golf network. Designed by golf course architect Dave Beakley and established in 1942, Valleybrook has been welcoming golfers to Camden County for more than eight decades. The course’s enduring reputation was confirmed by readers of the Courier Post, who voted it the best public course in South Jersey — a testament to the exceptional conditions and experience it consistently delivers.
The layout is a classic design that blends flat and hilly terrain, lush teeing greens, and tight, tree-lined fairways. Water comes into play on nine holes throughout the round, demanding thoughtful club selection and strategic course management at every turn. Add in challenging elevation changes and truly stunning panoramic views, and you have a course that rewards every golfer regardless of skill level — offering both beauty and honest challenge across all 18 holes.
what to expect
Valleybrook plays to 6,384 yards from the Back tees (Course Rating 69.6 / Slope 123), with additional options including Middle (6,008 yds / 67.7 / 121), Gold (5,102 yds / 65.7 / 118), and Forward (4,967 yds / 64.8 / 113) tees. This range of tee options ensures every golfer — from beginners to low-handicap competitors — can find the right challenge. Water hazards on nine holes add strategic complexity throughout the round, while the elevation changes require precise club selection from tee to green.
Beyond the course itself, Valleybrook offers a complete golf experience. The practice facility gives you the tools to sharpen your game before heading out, and Riley’s Pub on-site provides a great place to relax and enjoy a meal after your round.

Black: 387 – White: 363 – Gold: 318 – Red: 309
Our opening hole is a player friendly Par 4. The large fairway should help any first tee jitters and a good tee shot will leave only a short iron or wedge shot to a large, relatively flat green. Back / Middle Tee (Handicap Hole #7), Gold / Forward Tee (Handicap Hole #9).
Black: 328 – White: 309 – Gold: 295 – Red: 282
This shorter Par 4 gives players the option of choosing driver, fairway wood or long iron off of the tee. Choose wisely, as out of bounds is right and the green is one of the smallest on the course. Back / Middle Tee (Handicap Hole #11), Gold / Forward Tee (Handicap Hole #7).
Black: 197 – White: 171 – Gold: 150 – Red: 132
Playing slightly shorter than the yardage indicates, this Par 3 features a downhill tee shot to a large green. Better to be short than long, as danger lurks over the green with a bunker and out of bounds. Back / Middle Tee (Handicap Hole #15), Gold / Forward Tee (Handicap Hole #17).
Black: 324 – White: 307 – Gold: 277 – Red: 252
The tee shot is a forced carry, and players should play for position with a fairway wood or iron. A well-placed tee shot leaves a short iron or wedge shot to a well‑bunkered green. Back / Middle Tee (Handicap Hole #9), Gold / Forward Tee (Handicap Hole #11).
Black: 350 – White: 318 – Gold: 309 – Red: 298
Positioning off the tee is crucial on this Par 4, as the fairway slopes down to a penalty area. A well‑placed tee shot will leave an intimidating downhill shot to a large green. Back / Middle Tee (Handicap Hole #3), Gold / Forward Tee (Handicap Hole #1).
Black: 330 – White: 317 – Gold: 299 – Red: 295
The tree‑lined fairway on this Par 4 places a premium on accuracy from the tee. Players finding the fairway will be left with a short iron approach shot to an exceptionally deep green. Choose your yardage carefully, as a ball on the wrong part of the green could easily lead to a three‑putt. Back / Middle Tee (Handicap Hole #13), Gold / Forward Tee (Handicap Hole #15).
Black: 492 – White: 474 – Gold: 442 – Red: 431
This Par 5 gives the player many options from tee to green. No matter the length you hit it from the tee, a downhill, sidehill lie awaits. The elevation change, lie, and green complex make scoring on this hole a challenge. Back / Middle Tee (Handicap Hole #5), Gold / Forward Tee (Handicap Hole #3).
Black: 323 – White: 305 – Gold: 271 – Red: 267
Another Par 4 where options abound from the tee. Players have the option of going for the green or playing for position off the tee with a fairway wood or long iron. Tee shots or approach shots to this small elevated green must be precisely struck. Back / Middle Tee (Handicap Hole #8), Gold / Forward Tee (Handicap Hole #10).
Black: 178 – White: 132 – Gold: 124 – Red: 119
This Par 3 is Valleybrook Country Club’s signature hole and features a downhill tee shot, requiring a forced carry over a creek, to a false front green protected by bunkers. Your tee shot is everything on this hole! Back / Middle Tee (Handicap Hole #14), Gold / Forward Tee (Handicap Hole #12).
Black: 379 – White: 348 – Gold: 324 – Red: 313
A larger fairway greets your tee shot on this Par 4. The real challenge awaits with your approach shot, as it is uphill to a well‑guarded two‑tiered green. Keeping your ball below the hole is a good idea on this hole. Back / Middle Tee (Handicap Hole #4), Gold / Forward Tee (Handicap Hole #4).
Black: 285 – White: 270 – Gold: 215 – Red: 205
This shorter Par 4 plays downhill from the tee and places a premium on accuracy. A well‑positioned tee shot will leave a short iron or wedge approach to a generous‑sized green. A tee shot in the fairway makes this a scoring hole. Back / Middle Tee (Handicap Hole #16), Gold / Forward Tee (Handicap Hole #16).
Black: 366 – White: 340 – Gold: 310 – Red: 302
Golfers should seek to place their tee shot in the fairway at all costs on this Par 4. The approach shot plays uphill over a creek to a severely sloped green from back to front. Par is a great score on this hole. Back / Middle Tee (Handicap Hole #6), Gold / Forward Tee (Handicap Hole #2).
Black: 459 – White: 425 – Gold: 393 – Red: 324
This Par 5 is reachable in two for most, but out of bounds right must be avoided with your tee shot. A greenside water hazard will come into play on approach shots. This hole represents an excellent scoring opportunity. Back / Middle Tee (Handicap Hole #18), Gold / Forward Tee (Handicap Hole #18).
Black: 370 – White: 343 – Gold: 303 – Red: 245
Our closing hole (Par 4) is demanding, with out of bounds left and right coming into play. From the fairway, approach shots are challenged by a green the size of a postage stamp. A good score on this hole is well earned. Back / Middle Tee (Handicap Hole #2), Gold / Forward Tee (Handicap Hole #8).
